Hi there, I’ve started the firmware update of 2TB Book Live from the web interface. The installation started after it downloaded the firmware. It took about 1 hour and a half for it to reach 90% with long stops at 50 and 70% but it has been 4-5 hours since it reached 90% and its not moving any further. I keep my laptop on with Mozilla open and its saying Update Firmware Upgrading Please do not unplug your device or close this window during the firmware update installation. After completing the update, your network drive will reboot automatically.
Front panel LED is being red during the upgrade. Disclaimers apply here so if you follow my instructions and it totally disabled your MBL then it’s not my fault. I’m just giving ideas and advise.

Hmmm If the upgrade fails then I assume pulling the power plug and plugging it back in again should get it working on the non-upgraded firmware. The MBL keeps a shadow copy of the firmware in case the upgrade fails so when the MBL reboots it will not start the half-updated copy but will start up on the shadowed copy of the firmware. Try use Internet Explorer to initiate the update.

The MBL does the updating not the computer but maybe, just maybe, there is something on the browser which could be causing the Dashboard to fail. The real best advise would be to call Western Digital’s technical support and beg for help. I think the LED should not be RED during the update. Unless the MBL has took the udpate, rebooted and failed to start?
